"Writing Fantasy: Walking the Path of a Thousand Heroes"



Hey everyone! L.S. Franco here (yes, the Conjurer's Prophecy trilogy author). So here’s a little peek into what it feels like to create worlds and characters that don’t just live on the page but breathe, fight, and change alongside us. Writing fantasy is like stepping into Joseph Campbell’s “Hero with a Thousand Faces,” where you’re both the creator and the adventurer, caught up in a quest just as wild and unpredictable as any hero’s journey.

Imagine this: you’re not just putting words together; you’re shaping a path. Every hero, every villain, every twist in the plot is a choice that whispers back to you, “What does it mean to be brave? To face darkness? To become something more?” In fantasy, we don’t just follow the hero—we become the hero. We step into realms where magic exists, where the ordinary transforms into the epic, and where fate has a funny way of reminding us that we’re capable of much more than we think. ✨

But it’s not just magic spells and enchanted forests. Writing fantasy digs deep, calling on the universal questions we all have—who am I? Why am I here? Can I make a difference? And maybe we don’t face fire-breathing dragons or wield ancient swords in real life, but every page, every challenge, is a mirror. The hero’s journey? That’s us, learning to embrace our quirks, face our fears, and discover that in our own way, we’re already equipped to take on whatever life throws at us.

When I sit down to write, I’m right there with you. I’m the character fumbling through the dark woods, searching for the courage to step into the light. I’m the one feeling the pull of destiny—and resisting it at first, because what hero doesn’t feel fear? But in every story, there’s that moment: the call to adventure. That’s the part where it stops being just a fantasy and becomes a way of looking at life differently, of knowing we can choose our path. 💫

So, to everyone reading and dreaming out there: keep stepping into the unknown, even if it’s just turning the page of a book. Because that’s where the magic really happens.

Why I Write Fantasy Worlds – A Journey from Children’s Books to RPGs and Beyond From my earliest days, storytelling felt like a natural part of me.
