Embracing Differences: The Lumi Series and a New Chapter for Neurodivergent Children:

Dear friends,

I want to introduce you to something very close to my heart—the Lumi series. As a mother, writer, and advocate for neurodiversity, I’ve long believed in the importance of representation and understanding in children's literature. With the release of Lumi, debuting on February 1, 2025, we begin a journey to celebrate and empower children who are often overlooked in stories.

For families raising children with autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent traits, finding books that reflect their experiences can be a challenge. Too often, these children are made to feel that their differences are something to hide, something to be ashamed of. But Lumi is different.

In the world of Lumi, differences are celebrated. Lumi is not your typical penguin; Lumi sees the world through a different lens, and that’s what makes Lumi special. Through this series, I want children—neurodivergent or neurotypical—to experience what it means to truly see one another. In a world that often rushes past, Lumi takes its time, showing kids that there’s beauty in differences, and that empathy is a powerful force in building a more inclusive world.

The first book, Lumi, is the beginning of this journey, but it doesn’t end there. We're also releasing Lumi's Valentine's Day and Lumi's Mother's Day books, each a reminder that love, empathy, and connection transcend all boundaries. These stories are crafted with a deep understanding of how children learn and engage with the world. The illustrations are vibrant yet calming, designed to be sensory-friendly for children who may be overwhelmed by too much information.

As a mother, I understand the importance of showing my child that their uniqueness is something to be proud of. With Lumi, my hope is to share that same message with children everywhere. Whether your child is neurodivergent or neurotypical, the lessons of Lumi—acceptance, patience, and empathy—are for everyone.

This isn’t just a story; this is a movement. We are beginning a conversation that will change the way children understand one another. I invite you to join Lumi on this adventure, to stand with us as we strive to create a world where all children are seen, heard, and celebrated.

I hope you’ll take part in Lumi’s journey, beginning February 1, 2025. It’s a journey toward empathy, understanding, and a brighter future for all our children.

With love and purpose,
Luana Franco
